Adve'nturous. adj. [adventureux, Fr.]
- He that is inclined to adventures; and, consequently, bold, daring, courageous.
At land and sea, in many a doubtful fight,
Was never known a more advent'rous knight;
Who oftner drew his sword, and always for the right. Dryd. Hind and Panther.
- Applied to things; that which is full of hazard; which requires courage; dangerous.
But I've already troubled you too long,
Nor dare attempt a more advent'rous song.
My humble verse demands a softer theme;
A painted meadow, or a purling stream. Addison.
