Ke'ttle. n.s. [cꞇl, Saxon; ketel, Dutch.] A vessel in which liquor is boiled. In the kitchen the name of pot is given to the boiler that grows narrower towards the top, and of kettle to that which grows wider. In authors they are confounded.

Like burnish'd gold the little seether shone. Dryden.
